lima landscapes
photography, 2015
In search of traces of the Andean world within the coastal city of Lima, I documented street views using an analog camera my family used in the 1990s. The film rolls I bought were sold to me as expired, but I later discovered that they had already been exposed—only never developed. Some of the resulting images are therefore products of chance, while others, like the series depicting an ofrenda (payment to the earth) ritual on a beach, emerged almost magically, only slightly affected by familiar memories embedded in the film’s past.
