During the 2021 presidential elections, a Lima-based art dealer publicly announced on her Facebook page that she was circulating a “blacklist” of artists whose work would no longer be purchased due to their anti-Fujimorist political views. The controversy quickly moved beyond the virtual sphere, and a group of artists invited me to participate in an exhibition responding to this manipulative tactic aimed at favoring the candidacy of the Fujimorist heir.

¿Hay algun rondero? is a piece rooted in that political moment in Peru. Through a playful approach, it seeks to eroticize the desire projected onto what the opposing candidate represented: an Andean masculinity embodied in the figure of the rural rondero
