CHRIS LUZA

Chris Luza is a visual artist and cultural mediator based in Peru. In their work, they investigate how the entanglements of fantastic horror and terror narratives with “historical truths” have bounded our senses of well-being to colonial hierarchies. From this standpoint, Chris’s practice seeks to sabotage those patriarchal and Eurocentric epistemologies while simultaneously empowering inherited emancipatory knowledges that survive the colonial order. Their work spans various visual mediums — such as video installations, performances, and drawings — as well as experimental gatherings including festivals, exhibitions, and collective reading experiences.
